Understanding the PGBI: A Non-Profit Organization Focused on Brotherhood and Service
The Philippine GUARDIANS Brotherhood, Inc. (PGBI) is a prominent organization that emphasizes camaraderie, service, and community engagement among its members. It is important to clarify that PGBI operates as a non-profit organization, meaning its primary goal is not to generate profit but to serve its members and the community.

What PGBI Is Not
Contrary to some misconceptions, PGBI is not a social welfare agency like DSWD or SSS nor AKAP, etc. It does not function as an institution that provides direct social services, welfare benefits, or financial assistance to individuals in need. Members and the public should understand that PGBI’s activities are centered around fostering brotherhood, discipline, and volunteer service, rather than offering social benefits or welfare programs.
While members may derive personal growth, camaraderie, and a sense of purpose through their involvement in PGBI, they should not expect material benefits or social welfare assistance from the organization. Its initiatives are typically focused on community service projects, youth development, and fostering a supportive network among members.
In recent days that have passed, an inactive so-called PGBI member has been claiming that the PGBI National Office has not given him the 100,000 pesos supposedly allocated for his father’s death. This individual, who voluntarily isolated himself in 2022 and joined other Guardians groups, has been making claims without a basis. It is crucial to clarify that PGBI does not provide benefits of this nature, especially to members who have distanced themselves or joined other groups.
Our Clear Position During Orientation
In addition, it was made clear that during the orientation prior to their joining or becoming members, PGBI has reiterated that joining the organization is purely voluntary. Members are informed that they should expect nothing in return, as their role is to serve the organization voluntarily and with dedication.
Additional Clarification on Membership Contributions
Also, these claimants have not contributed anything, nor have they paid their monthly or annual dues, nor have any proof that they are truly active members of PGBI. Without such contributions or proof of active membership, their claims lack credibility. These claimants are those who claimed to be PGBI members but never actually fulfilled their responsibilities, merely claiming they are members based solely on unceremonious markings. In addition, it is their usual behavior that these inactive members or claimants come forward to claim benefits or recognition when they have nothing to rely on, since PGBI has no funds allocated for benefits.
As a non-profit entity, PGBI’s mission is to promote brotherhood, civic responsibility, and community development. Its activities include organizing community outreach programs, disaster response efforts, and leadership training—aimed at building character and strengthening community ties.
Understanding the true nature of PGBI helps promote transparency and realistic expectations among members and the public. The organization’s core purpose is to serve as a brotherhood committed to community service and personal development, not as a social welfare agency providing benefits or social assistance. Clarifying this distinction ensures that all stakeholders appreciate the organization’s mission and operational scope. -GSM
